Statement of intent
The theme I am going to develop is different landscapes where I am going to compare and contrast the differences between urban and seascapes. I am going to show different times of the day and different environments to explore my theme in more detail. For my initial research I will start by looking into landscape photographers. At the moment the first three photographers I am interested in are Adam Butler, Bernice Abbott and Andrew Prokos. I am interested in Adam Butler because he done a shoot on cityscapes and when I went to London I took cityscapes photos. I am also interested in Bernice Abbot because she is a cityscape photographer and I want to do more research on her. I also researched Andrew Prokos because he took a cityscape photo in black and white and that made interested in him. These photographers inspired me because they all take urban photos in different environments, different colours and different times. when I take photos I am going to frame my photos. I will show progression by putting my photos on weebly and using Photoshop. On Photoshop I am going to use the black and white filter like Bernice Abbott if I dont like and I want to see what other facts there are about the camera the camera I am using is a canon SLR. I am going to link my photos to my artist research because it gives us good marks and i want to improve my work by doing that.
Anglesey
In Anglesey I am going to take pictures of the beach in the winter to caputre different weather patterns and the changing atmosphere. This will be a good start to my landscape project and will allow me to use a range of camera techniques as I will have my camera in manual mode.
Best Photo
This is the best photo because I really like the composition as I have used the rule of thirds. In the foreground two thirds of the image focuses on the sea with the horizon in the top third.
I think I could improve this by being slightly more in focus and I will use my photoshop skills to enhance the finish.

Worst Photo
This is image is over exposed which means that my aperture and shutter speed weren't set right.

Linking Paragraph
In this project I am going to compare and contrast two different landscapes so that I can explore the themes in more detail. My first shoot was in winter time when I went to Anglesey and here I focused on capturing both large seascapes as well as close up detail. In contrast, I am going to go to London in the summer time to capture an urban landscape. I also hope too focus on capturing texture and close up as well as large city landscapes. I hope to make progress with my project by using my photoshop skills to manipulate my images further to bring out interesting features.
Adam Butler
Content
I have researched the photographer Adam Butler because he focuses on cityscapes in most of the pictures. I also took images in London of cityscapes and buildings and I want to base my portfolio on cityscapes, linking my work to Adam Butler. In this image I can see a cityscape that could possibly be London because I recognise some of the buildings. The striking thing about this image is the bright and contrasting colours that he has captured. The effect this has is it makes the purple and blue buildings stand out against the hot orange sky.
There are no people in the image and the content is made up of vertical buildings and strong shapes.
Composition
The focus point in this image is the sun in the middle of the tall buildings, the viewers eye is drawn to the sun because it is in the centre of the image. The photographer has taken the picture straight on. Their are strong leading lines on the cranes and the buildings. They haven't used any rule of thirds. My eye is drawn to the middle of the buildings because it has got the sun in the middle of the buildings with a contrasting colour. Their is a sense of scale in the composition beacuse he has you a wide angle lens and the picture is wide and big. The depth of field is big because it has got all the buildings in the image and plus its got the sun in the image too. The lens is a wide angle and he did not need a tripod.
Connection
The theme is cityscape and i am also doing cityscapes so it is relevent to mine because I like the cityscape topic. I want
I like this picture because its got a nice view of the buildings and its got the sunset showing through the buildings. This has been taken using a large depth of field, the sun light catches the viewers attention as it is central in the photograph. The bright graphics stand out. I like this because the sun set has a contrast of different tones of orange and yellow mixed together.
Berenice Abbott
Colour of the image is black and white. It consist of lots of shapes such as square, circle, and oval and rectangles this creates patterns. This texture in the photograph appears to be smooth on the flat surfaces and rough on the parts that have been rasied. The photographer has chosen black and white to show the shapes and patterns and the use of colour makes the detail stand out.
The background shows that the image has been taken in the day time also this image could be a bridge or a structure in front of a bridge because of the angle it has been taken. In the background there is a clear sky the image has been taken outside.
The structure of the lines in this photograph is very strong, I know this because I can see where the vanishing point is at the top of the tower and the photographer has done this so our eyes get guided up to the top. But when I first look at this I can see the arch at the pattern of the photograph because it has quite a few different shapes so my eyes get guided towards the pattern part.
The shutter speed is on a fast shutter speed this because there is nothing fast going fast the lens that the photographer need to capture. But I know that she didn’t need a tripod for this because it is from a worms eye view.
I like this because it also links to my photography from London, Because when I look at my photograph I can see the different shapes of the buildings and most of my photos I have look from a worms eye view.

Andrew Prokos
'Andrew Prokos is a New York City based architecture, advertising, and fine art photographer. His fine art photographs incorporate architectural elements and sweeping natural and urban views. Andrew’s large-scale cityscapes of New York and other locations are often presented in panoramic format, and capture the city in intricate detail. He often uses long exposure times to collect light, which imparts a sense of movement and suffuses his scenes with a subtle, non-directional light. The resulting photographs are both highly detailed and lyrical in quality. I like this picture the most because it links in with my photography work from London, there is loads of things going on in this picture but what i can mostly see is that there is a vanishing point in the middle off the photo. In my opinion he gives it more affect because your eyes guide into the end of the road, also it looks like they have used a fast shutter speed to capture this photo this is because the cars are not moving too quick so we don't need to catch anything moving like would use for a train, from this picture i can also see that it is from a bird point of view because i can see everything in shot. But if I was to change the this photo I would maybe change the colour of the sky to give it more colour so that your eye get attracted to the sky more than the vanishing point. This could be something I am considering to do with my photos from London.

Lorenzo Linthaust
I am going to link my work to the work of Lorenzo Linthuast by capturing the same compositions and manipulating them in photoshop. The filters I am going to explore are Layers, Curves and cropping but the most important thing is to make sure I have close up sections with a plain background so the style works.

I am researching the work of Lorenzo Linthaust because this has photographer inspired me because of there camera technique and the way they frame there shots. I really admire the way you just see a section of a buildings because with empty spaces around it. I think their work links to mine by capturing the same composition and manipulating them in Photoshop. The filters I am going to use is curves that fliter is gives my image a good lighting and a nice contrast of colours. To develop my work further I am now going to pick some of my own images and work on them in photoshop taking inspiration by Lorenzo Linthaust.
Fully developed images
To take my work to the next standard I have decided that I am going to put my pictures in a book and create a collage in my book
of my seascapes photography. Because i think it will look more creative on my website and also if I am going to be creating a collage I would think about if I am going to keep them as an original picture or do different shapes.

Final evaluation
For my extended project I focused on different landscapes, looking at differences of urban and Seascapes, comparing and contrasting the two. I really enjoyed the project because I could explore different location, which is important if you want to get good photos and develop my skills. I could also explore and develop Photoshop skills to enhance my outcomes.
The part of the project I enjoyed the most was the location trip to London, this allowed me to take different images at different times of the year. I also enjoyed visiting London, our capitol city, it's an exiting palce to explore
The new techniques I developed was using the camera on manual and photoshop filters. A technique I would like to develop further would be shutter speed and getting a sense of movement.
The photographers I searched were Bernice Abbott, Andrew Prokos and Adam Butler. I chose these photographers because their images were bright and contrasting and although they look simple they are quite hard to achieve. I made sure that when i went to London, I took photos in the sane style that I could manipulate later in photoshop.
I think the most successful part of my project is my final portfolio, because my outcomes are clearly linked to my artist research and I am pleased with the results. If I was to do the project again I would take more care of my images as I lost some of my Angelsey photos.
